Barbara Connick, Rest In Peace

Today at 3:00 PM, my wife, lover, and best friend Barbara Connick died in the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV of an extremely aggressive form of breast cancer that had metastasized in her liver . In the end she passed very quickly and with little pain or discomfort, and received absolutely first-class care from the loving and extremely competent hospice doctors, nurses, social workers, and chaplain. We shared a wonderful 22 years together, and Barbara will be missed very much not only by me but by the hundreds of people whose lives she so positively affected. Good bye, Barbara, you were one in a million!

We don’t know each, but I check in with your blog now and then to learn something new. I own neither an iPhone nor an EEEPC. Although I ordered an iPod Touch today to test my new iPhone site. I’ve tried emulators, but they suck. And I don’t have a Mac, so the SDK is out.

I’ve followed your postings about your wife and want you to know how sorry I am. If only we knew what it all means. I’ve lost family members too. My sister at 47 and my brother at 42. It’s tough. Not being a religious person, I merely try to live with my bafflement and go on.

    Best of good luck.

I had been following your twitter from time to time when you played with nokia tablets and I am very sad for you. I seem to remind some of your gadgets were gifts from your wife. I think she loved you so much. My heart is with you.

    Hi Michael,

I just realized it had been a while since I’d seen a tweet from you, so I went looking… I’m so sorry to learn of your loss. A wise friend told me once, of loss, “You never get over it, you only get used to it.”

I’m sure Barbara’s spirit will always be with you, sitting on the porch, looking down the valley.
