When MagicPad first came out, there was quite a bit of hoopla associated with it. It was the first application in the App Store to support copy/paste operations. However, it could only copy and paste within itself. So I wasn’t all that interested in buying it, since I already had multiple note taking applications and I didn’t think just being able to copy and paste within it made it all that worthwhile to own.
Then a few weeks ago my wife, Rosemarie, sent me an email from her iPhone that was composed using MagicPad. The email was written in a beautiful colored cursive font. I hadn’t realize until that moment that MagicPad could export its output to email and that its output looked so good. Needless to say, I immediately purchased MagicPad and have since been using it regularly on my iPhone for creating “special” email messages. I’ve really come to like this application!

I recently purchased a Griffin Clarifi case for my iPhone 3G. Not only does it serve as a protective case for my iPhone, it also features a sliding macro lens that enables the iPhone’s camera to take close-up shots with excellent clarity. One of the first things I utilized this feature for was to take pictures of all of the credit cards and insurance cards, both front and back, that I carry in my wallet. If I ever lose or misplace any of them ,I have an immediately available digital image with me at all times, including the phone numbers to call to report credit card lose. I’ve also used the macro lens to take pictures of documents and then uploaded them to Evernote. Evernote’s OCR function automatically turns them into searchable documents – a very handy feature to have!
I definitely loving this case! You should be aware, however, that the case does not come with a screen protector. I added a thin replaceable screen protector to my iPhone, and the case fits just fine around it.

Well, it’s been almost a month since I’ve posted here on my blog. I do have some good excuses, though.
First of all, I was on vacation for the last three weeks of the year. Rosemarie (see picture above) and I went to Shepardstown (the oldest city in WV), New York City (we were in Times Square on New Year’s Eve!), and the Turf Valley Resort and Spa in Ellicot City, MD (where we received the most amazing massages and Vichy showers you can imagine!). During our vacation I proposed to Rosemarie, on one knee, in Tiffany’s – where I bought her an engagement ring.
Then last Friday we were married in a civil ceremony in Charleston, WV. We’re still planning on a church wedding in the spring. My new step-children, Hunter and Lee, were able to attend the ceremony and smiled approvingly at our marriage.
So, I’ve been pretty busy lately. I’ll be posting more regularly again now that things have settled down – oh yeah, and I’m really, really happy now!
